Hanoch Levin's play is illusively simple, filled with dexterous word plays and poetic allusions. It tells about human life, locked up in its repetitive cycle. “Suitcase packers” is filled with vibrant and colorful characters gathered in a small neighborhood. Several families mingle their lives with their neighbors, with people that come and go, passers-by, tourists, and the ever watching gravediggers, always ready to quickly take away human's unnecessary physical shell and make him disappear. Their stories intertwine in a parade of spiritual misery, emptiness and mediocrity. Here, there are no heroes, there is no happy ending, the desire for living is lost... Everyone has prepared their suitcase and is waiting for death, but there is no luggage needed for that destination. Wasting their time, the characters live in the past and the future, somewhere else, out there. And they watch life pass them by.
