OUR MISSION
Danail Chirpansky International Student Theater Festival was founded in 2017 following its selection by the International Fund for the Promotion of Culture of UNESCO. It is the first Bulgarian-based festival for graduating performances of theater academies across Europe and the world. Our first edition made us believe that Bulgaria can become a long-term host of an international event which encourages freedom of communication between young artists and inspires them to work and develop. And, vice versa, this inspires our creative team! Since 2017 the festival team has been working tirelessly to carry this mission on. Our main motivation is Danail Zhelev – Chirpansky, and our purpose is to carry forward his great love and dedication to the art of theater.
ARCHIVE
The project’s history is as dynamic as the festival itself. As if magically, in 2017 we were awarded UNESCO’s International Fund for the Promotion of Culture which helped us realize our first edition. Our project was one of eight chosen amongst 814 across the world! We have organized charity football games, built a performance set for one day when it got lost while traveling to Bulgaria and sang until the morning in spontaneous parties with our participants. Since the beginning we have had the opportunity to meet amazing people and gain friends among the greatest theater-makers – present and undoubtfully future ones. From Kama Ginkas to our very last volunteer, we would like to thank all our friends, colleagues, partners and volunteers, without whom we would not have been able to do this.
