There is no summer vacation, nor rest, but only hard work on the preparations for the ISTF Danail Chirpansky organization team. The participants of the festival will have the opportunity to visit three workshops (related to music, dance and puppet theater). We will introduce you to each of them individually.
As you know, one of the goals of the festivals is the cultural exchange between the participating countries. For the motion oriented seminar, the team is preparing something really special for the foreign participants. They will be a part of a practical study of traditional Bulgarian dance. This way the guests of the festival can explore the Bulgarian culture by dancing and playing traditional games. The goal is not to only to find out about the Bulgarian customs and folklore, but also to create a dance developed for stage and based on the newly learned things. With this the team hopes to create a setting for the participants to connect with our specific heritage and to enrich their stay with an unforgettable experience.
For this purpose, a special guest will be Stefan Vitanov – choreographer of the two ICAR award winning production of the State Puppet Theater – Plovdiv – ” Embedding” directed by Vesselka Kuncheva, as their joint work continues on the shows ” Queen of Spades” at the State Puppet Theater – Plovdiv, and “The Last Temptation” at Ivan Vazov National Theater. His work also includes the choreography “Shopete”, “Chamber Shopsky” and “Breeze of Varna” for ensemble “Elit” – Lovech and the choreography of the circus-theater performance “Cherga” at the National Palace of Children.
He is also involved in teaching at 144 SOU “Narodni Buditeli”, as a folk dance teacher in one of the most renowned dancing schools in Sofia – DANCE ACADEMY-SOFIA and choreographer-leader in a children’s and adolescent ensemble “Jeremiah”. From 2016 he is a full-time Ph.D. student at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences with specialty “Ethnochoreology”.
This is only a small part of the treats prepared by the team of International Student Theatre Festival Danail Chirpansky. Expect more information soon.
