Dear friends and colleagues,
The third edition of our dear Danail Chirpansky International Student Theater Festival was due in the fall of 2020. However, while the world is facing an unexpected challenge, the outcome of which is yet to be seen, we have taken the hard decision to postpone our festival. It is heartbreaking but we are determined in avoiding any compromise to the health of our participants and audience.
We are hoping we would be able to recreate the edition in the spring of 2021. This can happen only if all is well, academies reopen their doors, students continue rehearsing and there is no longer a threat for everyone.
We intend to keep the communication with everybody and we hope the academies that have declared a wish to participate would still be able to do so in the time period mentioned.
And a little more from us:
The crisis we are facing does not only involve our health and our healthcare systems; it does not only involve our economies; culture and shared values of togetherness, equality and free movement are also threatened. We are fully aware of that and it is hard to put on hold the realization of an event that celebrates theatre and the birth of artists, because theater teaches us exactly that: that we are always a part of a team, that we are all equally important, that we, as artists, carry important messages. Nonetheless, we are sure that very soon we will be able to meet again and together we will continue putting our efforts into the cultural life of our world.
