Russia is among the countries that will participate in ISTF “Danail Chirpansky”. The students from the Russian University for Theater Arts (GITIS) are part of the program of the festival which will be held between October 1 and 7 in the Stara Zagora Theater “Geo Milev”.
The students from the oldest and biggest theater academy in Russia will perform “Мetamorphosis. Gogol and Kafka”. The entrance for all performances is free.
The performance arose out of several students’ directing pieces. It is based on the works of the Russian classic Nikolai Gogol: “Viy”, “Ivan Fyodorovich Shponka and his aunt”, “The Government Inspector”, and the German writer Franz Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis” and “The Castle”. As the students themselves state, nearly a century divides the two authors, but their works are connected by an anxious feeling of the bizarre and enigmatic presence of the other world, which creates an absurd, inverted and phantasmagoric perception of reality.
GITIS was found in 1878. Each year it educates about 1500 students, graduate students, and qualification-advancement students from Russia and other countries. Most of the professors include prominent actors, directors of various Moscow theatres, stage designers, theatre critics and other professionals and are also graduates of the Academy. They train students for all professions in the theatrical arts. The tradition “from student to teacher to new generation of students” is one of the most important principles of faculty policy of the Academy.
Become part of the magic which the Russian University for Theater Arts will create during the ISTF “Danail Chirpansky”.
